Shannon Dwyer, NP
Shannon Dwyer is a Board-Certified Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with almost twenty years of nursing experience. For the past decade, Shannon has been focusing on crisis intervention and stabilization in emergency psychiatry. Her emphasis is in the treatment of depression, bipolar and addiction, and she enjoys working with children, adults and families.
Shannon combines aspects of cognitive-behavioral and family systems therapies with mindfulness techniques in the treatment of mental health illnesses. She is committed to working with individuals and families of all cultural, social and sexual backgrounds.
After graduating with a degree in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Cruz, Shannon focused on public health in Jamaica and Ethiopia. It was during this time that she realized that environmental sustainability and justice could not be achieved until the health and justice needs of the community had been fully realized. She decided to dedicate her life to nursing and received her BSN at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA, followed by a master’s degree from Midwestern State University in Texas.
Shannon is passionate about mental health and works closely with Dr. Dore to develop a treatment plan with every client that emphasizes a journey towards wellness that is both holistic and based upon a solid foundation of nursing practice, concentrating on the health each person, their family and community.
